This monograph offers comprehensive descriptions of recent investigations on the development and biomedical applications of electromagnetic (EM) induction imaging which enables scientists and engineers to use EM imaging techniques to develop medical diagnostic and radio-therapy instruments. This book focuses on the following areas: Chapter 1 reviews various medical screening and sensing approaches for cancer detection. Chapter 2 summaries several EM induction imaging techniques, including theory, apparatus, medical applications, and challenges. Chapter 3 introduces a new two dimensional (2D) holographic electromagnetic induction (HEI) imaging approach and measurement apparatus. Chapter 4 presents the development of three dimensional (3D) HEI approach and its feasibility for brain stroke detection. Chapter 5 aims to apply a new compressive sensing technique to solve the conventional EM imaging such as microwave imaging problems including super-resolution and fusion of images. Chapter 6 reports the development of a radio frequency antenna for microwave liver tumor ablation. Chapter 7 concludes the book and discussions of future research directions of EM induction imaging-based techniques.
Electromagnetic waves have long been used in medical settings for diagnostic purposes, such as for the detection of cancerous tissues, stroke events or cardiovascular risk, as the behaviour of the waves upon meeting their target gives pertinent information for diagnostic and imaging purposes. This edited book presents advances in the use of electromagnetic waves and antennas in healthcare settings, both as diagnostic tools (such as radar-based imaging, holographic microwave imaging, thermoacoustic imaging systems), and therapeutic interventions (such as microwave ablation therapies for cancer). Written by an international team of biomedical engineering researchers, it discusses all aspects related to the design and modelling of electromagnetic imaging techniques, electromagnetic devices, wireless implants, wearable systems and wireless sensor networks and in vitro and in vivo testing. Design issues for wearable antennas, wearable sensors, magnetic coils and coil array issues are explored and biomedical applications such as cancer detection, stoke event detection, GI diagnostics, and cardiovascular risk prediction are discussed. The book also explores scattering problems of electromagnetic waves between different tissues, and how these complex scattering problems can be resolved. This book will be of interest to researchers and engineers in the electromagnetic wave community, those in antenna research, biomedical engineering and related fields.
As a rising superpower and economy, China and the Chinese society have attracted the attention of the world. However, because of the language and cultural barrier, it is difficult for foreign academics and the foreign public to grasp what is happening within Chinese society. This is particularly the case if a foreign audience wishes to understand the Chinese public and how social justice plays out in China. Cases on Social Justice in China and Perspectives on Chinese Brands proposes an objective view of the effect that social justice and online public debates had on brands by describing and reporting the real situation in China where brands faced a public outcry after a controversial event and by considering how the brands were affected. Covering key topics such as brand activity, social media, boycotts, vulgar marketing, and salary disputes, this reference work is ideal for government officials, policymakers, researchers, scholars, academicians, practitioners, instructors, and students.
The Lily Theater is a strikingly original debut novel-an international literary sensation-based on the author's experience growing up in China during the Cultural Revolution.
